Q.) How long can mold remediation take?

Depending on the type of mold it can take between 3-5 days.

Q.) How does mold spread?

Mold spreads via spores which spread throughout the air, water, and even insects. In the correct circumstances these spores can even create mold colonies in new areas about your home.

Q.) How can I tell if there's mold in my home?

If you’ve had a water leak, look for water stains or visible mold growth in the area. Mold can also be identified by its musty smell. Some spots mold is common in are pipes, walls, ceilings, roofs, and any dark, cool, and damp areas like basements.

Q.) I can see mold but can't smell a musty odor, why?

If you can see mold and don’t smell an odor, it’s likely this mold is dormant. These mold colonies are dormant because it lacks moisture which makes it unable to grow.

Q.) Is mold dangerous?

Everyone reacts differently to mold, but it can very well be dangerous. If you feel like you are experiencing issues due to mold contamination, you should get your air sampled and consult your doctor. Some symptoms can include:

  • Itching
  • Sneezing
  • Skin rashes
  • Sore throat
  • Runny nose
Q.) Can mold kill you?

Exposure to mold will not kill you.

Q.) What can I do to prevent mold from growing in my home?

The best way to prevent mold growth in your home is to make sure it isn’t too humid. Somewhere between 40 and 60 percent humidity in your home is a good spot to be. It’s also important to make sure all damp places have ventilation.

Q.) How is mold removal performed?
  1. We begin by isolating the area we’re working in. This helps contain the mold.
  2. We then aim to control the airborne spores that can be disturbed during the remediation process.
  3. Once we’ve located impacted surfaces by mold we begin HEPA vacuuming.
  4. Proper removal of contaminated pieces is important, and we make sure to clean the area as these pieces are removed.
  5. After these pieces are removed, we begin spraying and scrubbing the unmovable structure elements.
  6. Mold remediation begins here as we disinfect, deodorize, encapsulate, and rebuild affected surfaces.
  7. Once the remediation is finished we begin air scrubbing to secure any residual spores.

Water Damage

Q.) What are some common effects of water damage?

If water damage is allowed to sit the area will take more damage. Possessions and building materials will saturate and deteriorate which can bring about mold growth.

Q.) What are the major causes of water damage?

Water damage can be brought about by a number of sources. Appliance leaks, flooding from natural disasters, burst pipes, plumbing leaks, and much more can bring about water damage.

Q.) What are the signs of hidden water damage?

The easiest ways to identify hidden water damage are visible signs of mold, water spots, or a pungent odor of mildew.

Q.) How does the process of restoring water damage work?

When it comes to restoring damage caused by the water we start with cleaning up all standing water present in the property. After the area is clean of water, we assess the damage. This step includes identifying what needs to be disposed of and what can be salvaged. After that, we make sure the area is dehumidified and dried so we can also stop any form of mold growth.

We here at Klean-Co make it our utmost priority to make sure any water is clean up, potential of mold growth is limited, and any materials that are damaged are removed.

Q.) How much does water damage cost to fix?

The cost tends to vary based on the extent of the damage and the type of water we’re cleaning up. We can provide a proper quote for the work when we assess the property.

Q.) What should I do after a fire?

When the first responders have extinguished the fire you should first focus on making sure your family members and pets are safe. Once you’ve done that, you can call us to begin assessing the property and planning a restoration plan.

Q.) How long can fire restoration take?

The amount of time the process can take depends on the situation. Some factors we take into account are how far the fire has spread in your home, the extent of the damage, and so on. We aim to work as efficiently and quickly as we can. These jobs can take between a few days to weeks to complete.

Q.) Am I able to inspect my home and belongings after the fire damage?

It’s strongly advised that you avoid re-entering your home after a fire. Your home’s structure can be weak which can cause it to collapse, and alongside this, you can also subject yourself to smoke inhalation.

Q.) Am I allowed to clean it up myself?

We recommend that you hire a professional team to clean up as opposed to cleaning it up yourself. Smoke is extremely dangerous to inhale and without proper equipment, you can harm yourself.

Q.) What about the items in my home? Am I allowed to keep them?

If there are any special items you left inside the home, let us know. We take inventory as we begin the process, diligently searching and assessing the items we can find.

Q.) Who is responsible for paying for the service?

The property owner is typically responsible for paying for the service. However, we recommend you contact the insurance company after the incident in order to go over your coverage options.

Q.) How long will it take for my carpets to dry?

Typically it takes 2 to 8 hours for the carpet to dry. You can help dry it quicker by turning on fans and opening windows if it’s hot outside.

Q.) Can I walk on the carpet after you've finished cleaning?

Absolutely! We recommend, however, that you avoid walking on it too much as it will cause the carpet to dry slower.

Q.) How long does it take for carpet cleaning?

If we’re cleaning the carpet throughout your whole home then it can easily take between 2 to 3 hours. If we’re only cleaning around 3 areas then it can take between 1 to 1 1/2 hours.

Q.) How often do I need my tiles cleaned?

We recommend getting your tiles cleaned regularly. While grout is protected from staining, the tiles themselves can easily get dirty again.

Q.) Why should my tiles and grout be cleaned?

Dirt can build up in the grout which can cause it to become discolored, dulling your tile’s appearance. The only way to prevent this is to get a professional tile and grout cleaning done.

Q.) Are the products you use safe for my pets?

We know how important these family members are, and we pride ourselves on the products we use! Yes, they are 100% safe!

Q.) Why should I clean my air ducts?

Cleaning your air ducts helps clean up accumulations of dust and dirt within them. Young children, allergy and asthma sufferers, and the elderly can all get sick or be more susceptible to poor indoor air quality if you don’t get your air ducts cleaned. Dirty air ducts can also provide your home a musty smell which can promote mold growth.

Q.) What is air duct cleaning and what does it do?

It cleans your air ducts! Generally, this process focuses on cleaning heating and cooling system components, grilles and diffusers, air handling unit housing, and more.

Q.) Can I clean my air ducts myself?

Sadly no. In order to clean your air ducts properly, you require specialized tools and training to do so comprehensively.

Q.) What can be found in air ducts and vents?

Dust and other debris can be carried along by airflow. Mold, mildew, and other similar contaminants can also begin growing inside the ducts without proper cleaning and maintenance.

Q.) How often should I have my air ducts cleaned?

We recommend that you have your air ducts cleaned every 5 to 7 years. However, if you have allergies or pets then we suggest having cleaned more often.

Q.) What is pressure washing?

Pressure washing utilizes a high-pressure water spray to clean surfaces that can typically be difficult to clean. Areas like concrete, wooden decks, and vinyl all require a specialized touch to become properly clean.

Q.) Why should I get my house pressure washed?

As the seasons pass your home will accrue grit and grime from algae, mildew, mold, and pollution. This won’t just make your home look bad, but it will also begin damaging the surfaces they sit on. Pressure washing your home will remove these issues and protect your home.

Q.) How often should I have my home cleaned?

Depending on the material and color of the siding of your home this could vary from every 2 to 3 years.

Q.) Can pressure washing damage my home?

Every home has a different type of siding. Due to this we adjust our pressure settings accordingly in order to not damage your home.

Q.) What is soft washing?

Soft washing is a type of pressure washing that utilizes a weaker setting on the pressure. Alongside this, a soft wash contains a solution that will allow the water to break down and remove any algae, mold, and mildew that is sticking to your home.

Q.) Is the solution you use for soft washing safe?

Yes! The solution we use is safe for the environment.

Q.) How long does a soft washing treatment last?

A soft washing treatment will typically last 4 times longer than a pressure washing treatment. This typically means it will last for over a year.

Q.) Is soft washing better than pressure washing?

Pressure washing only cleans the surface layer of a building off. Soft washing, however, goes down deeper and gets rid of the beginnings of mold, mildew, and algae.
